Meet Apple’s first wireless earpods: Apple AirPods

Apple today has introduced its first wireless earpods called the AirPods at the Apple Event held at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. They also introduced the iPhone 7, 7 Plus & Apple Watch Series 2.

Apple has got rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 & 7 Plus which was heavily rumored. It will come with Apple’s earpods that will connect via a lightning cable. They have also introduced the AirPods which are the first wireless earpods produced by them. Apple described them as an innovative new wireless headphones that uses advanced technology to reinvent how we listen to music, make phone calls, enjoy TV shows and movies, play games and interact with Siri. It looks like what would happen if you snapped a pair of EarPods off from their cable. The AirPods have a special W1 wireless chip embedded inside. This chip along with Apple’s software helps them pair quickly with your phone, bypassing the pairing annoyances that plague Bluetooth setup these days. Simply open up the carrying case & the Pods immediately pair with your phone. The included case also works as the headphone charger.

The case has a Lightning port on the bottom for charging, with a built-in battery that can supply 25 hours of listening; the individual AirPods can run for up to five hours on a charge. A quick 15-minute charge in the case will already offer up three hours of battery life. If you pull one earpod out, the music stops automatically, which is amazing. There are sensors that detect when they’re in your ears. Access Siri with a double tap to your AirPods to select and control your music, change the volume, check your battery life or perform any other Siri task. Another sensor lets you activate Siri just by touching them, and built-in mics with noise cancellation enhance your voice for calls and voice control.

The Apple AirPods will be available in late October & sold separately for $159 which is not cheap. But what you get is quality sound & hands free features on a wireless earpods. They are compatible with the iPhone 5 and up, the iPad mini 2 and up, the Apple Watch Series 1, and Macs. Apple’s headphone brand Beats has also released three new wireless models: Powerbeats3 ($200), Solo3 Wireless ($300) & all-new BeatsX ($150).
