Apple MacBook Air vs. Apple MacBook Pro – Design and Specs Comparison

2

It’s no secret that Apple made a lot of interesting new reveals at last week’s WWDC. Today we’re taking a look at two of their MacBook devices, the Air and the Pro 13-inch, in order to decide which one is the better option seeing as they’re priced at a similar level. Although the MacBook Air used to be Apple’s biggest accomplishment, they certainly downgraded it to the background this year, only adding a few minor software and hardware improvements to it.

On the other hand, the MacBook Pro in its 13-inch 2017 variant is a bit more refreshed, but not too much. So, which one is the better alternative? Let’s discuss and find out.

Design

As far as design goes, the Apple MacBooks have been sticking to the same tried and tested design for years now. However, the MacBook Pro is considerably thinner than the Air, but the Air is lighter still, as its name truthfully indicates. However, the differences are not that notable in both cases so, at the end of the day, there’s no real winner here. It’s a tie.

Specs

The new and refreshed MacBook Pro 13-inch has the better chipset, more RAM and storage, and is overall the more powerful laptop here. However, the MacBook Air does have more battery life, clocking in at a full 12 hours before you need to charge it, while the Pro 13 only lasts for 10 hours. But we’re talking about a mere 2 hour difference here, which is also perfectly understandable seeing as the Pro is stronger and functions at a more demanding level.

All in all, we’d have to say that the MacBook Pro 13-inch is slightly better than the MacBook Air, but the Air is certainly the more elegant choice.
