We know that augmented reality oscillates between two extremes. On the one hand, we have wearable headsets, such is the example of Microsoft HoloLens, priced between $3,000 and $5,000. This one mixes virtual reality with the augmented one in order to obtain a holographic experience. On the other hand, we have the free apps (such as Pokemon GO), which rely on software and the camera you have on your phone in order to place graphics on the natural world.
A New Entry on the Market
Currently, there is a new augmented reality kit called Aryzon, which is priced at a mere $30. You might be surprised at this, but this product aims to fill in the gap between the high-end 3D experiences and the 2D games. Similar to the Google Cardboard for VR, Aryzon is shipped flat and it’s made of cardboard. You can assemble it in a couple of minutes, which is even better.
The project was designed by 5 students at industrial design in the University of Twente (Netherlands). It all started when they decided they weren’t happy with the high costs for exclusive VR. At the same time, they didn’t like the cheaper options either.
Help Aryzon Reach the Market
The developers launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Aryzon. Surprisingly, they already managed to raise $28,116, which was their initial goal. And there are still 31 days to go! Alexander Ceha, one of the developers, said that Aryzon targets educators, game designers, engineers, healthcare workers and product marketers. They want to make the product available by using an open source platform, so that other people can improve the idea.
Moreover, he declared that the team does not want to have a patent for the design. Their goal is to encourage everyone to make a better experience out of it.
