That’s right. Now even coffee is being delivered to your doorsteps. Bengaluru based DropKaffe which delivers freshly brewed coffee at the doorstep of customers and has raised $300 seed funding from angel investor Manish Singhal and Silicon Valley-based fund P39 Capital in addition to few angel investors based in Singapore and the US.

According to the co-founder of DropKaffe, Rakshit Kejriwal, these fresh funds will be deployed for hiring talent and expansion across Bengaluru with an aim to open 10 DropKaffe fulfilment centres by the end of October.

Currently there are two fulfilment centres at Koramangala and Indiranagar and the new centres will be launched in the areas of at Marathahalli, Whitefield, Bellandur and Bannerghatta in coming weeks as a result of which the company expects to reduce its current turnaround time of 30 minutes to 20 minutes.

Many food delivery startups like Bhukkad based in Bengaluru and beverage delivery service like Chaipoint in Gurgaon have adopted a similar approach to open dedicated delivery hubs, often known as dark stores or fulfilment centres like DropKaffe in order to meet the rising demands of customers to get stuff delivered at their door step.

Since these stores are not retail stores where they have to actually interact with customers, there can be substantial cost savings as they neither have to be opened in prominent locations nor do they need to have attractive pallets or checkout centres like retail stores.

In addition to the expansion and hiring plans, DropKaffe is also planning to launch a weekly subscription service for regular customers along with an android app with custom brew options and IoT enabled ordering solutions. In the online food delivery market which has lately seen a huge number of startups, DropKaffe is one of the unique startups in the sense it is delivering fresh coffee to the coffee lovers at their homes or offices.

Founded by a team who are themselves coffee lovers and have previously worked together on edutech startup SmartOn Learning, DropKaffe claims to have served 50000 coffees so far with 80% of its revenues coming from repeat customers. In order to maintain the quality of coffee, the company acquires coffee beans directly from estates and then undertakes the roasting and grinding of coffee beans themselves only a couple of days before actually brewing the coffee.
