Continuing with its pre-scheduled release cycles, Samsung has today announced the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in India. Coming up with a price tag of ₹57,900, you can get your hands on Samsung’s most ambitious flagship yet, starting August 28th.

Even before Samsung actually launched this new device last week, the Korean smartphone maker had already signalled a preponed release cycle in all of its markets, largely to equalise the effect Apple’s launches have had on its smartphone range.

However, it isn’t just the release which has bene made early, availability of both Galaxy note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus too has been hastened up, so that the company can apitalise on the initial buying excitement that comes with a launch.

The device, is priced at ₹57,900 for an all-in 32 GB Gold and Silver White models. While being on the higher side, expect the company to bring it down substantially till the time Apple launches its next iPhone in September.

As for specifications, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is slightly thinner than its previous version, measuring a mere 6.9 mm compared to the 7.0 mm-thick S6 Edge. It also weighs like a feather, just 153 grams to be precise.

Other than the size, you won’t find much difference in the handset if you compare it with its older brother. The devices are almost identical, both in looks and in specs.

You get the same premium build consisting of glass and metal along with identical sensors. You also get a 16 megapixel autofocus rear end camera, similar to its predecessor. Samsung has also left the earlier processor untouched — being powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 processor, 64-bit octo-core. Yes, they’ve dropped Snapdragon altogether.

The device runs a new and improved version of Samsung’s Touchwiz launcher and scheme over Google’s Andoid 5.1 Lollipop making it much snappier and responsive than its predecessors. The company hasn’t said anything about a MarshMallow upgrade.

The only differences you will find between S6 Edge Plus and its pred., is the RAM. It has been bumped to a massive 4GB along with a larger storage space of 32GB or 64GB. Another improvement is the newer and slightly bigger 3000 mAh battery (still not removable).

Other small tweaks are related to the software of the smartphone, making the “People Edge” shortcut much more useful. Samsung has also introduced a new “Apps Edge,” which lets you quick-launch apps.
